A story About Rags
Hi there! Welcome to my happy place. You may be wondering how I ended up here. Creating corsets out of old tablecloths with my two cats by my side wasn’t what I thought I would do. I will admit; I didn’t realize that it was an option. I did though, want to spend my days dressing up and wearing exactly what I wanted to wear. Because heres the thing, some of us want to live out our feral, feminine, forest-dwelling, princess dreams in overcrowded libraries full of cats, lavish ballgowns, plants, and fancy knickknacks. And we deserve that.
So this is my solution. Every “From, Rags” corset is made from reclaimed materials, focusing on fabric and garments that can not be donated or used in their present state. Each one made with care and the intention to make the wearer feel magical. This is why size inclusivity is a crucial part of my brand. No matter your measurements, From, Rags is here to work with you.
Reducing waste while making as many people feel beautiful as possible, this is my mission.
Our Mission
Every year the fashion industry creates 97 tons of waste, 18 tons of that waste being textiles. As an avid fashion lover and collector, my overflowing wardrobe always reflected my love for personal style. As I got older and realized what was happening to our planet, I took a step back. I looked at my closet and saw a pile of fast fashion and the remnants of hours and hours of worker exploitation. I don’t want to be a part of that. In fact I refuse to be part of it anymore.
That is why From, Rags uses exclusively reclaimed textiles, specifically targeting textiles that are not usable in their current state. This extra step ensures that From, Rags is not taking essential resources and wearable garments from thrift stores and the communities in which they serve.
